Éored of the East-mark
"They are proud and wilful, but they are true-hearted, generous in thought and deed; bold but not cruel; wise but unlearned, writing no books but singing many songs, after the manner of the children of Men before the Dark Years."
— The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
"Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain... Like wind in the meadow. The days have come down in the west, behind the hills... Into shadow."
—Théoden, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
"Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden! Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter! Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!"
—Théoden, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
For many long years, a Shadow has overtaken the Riddermark, our home. Our people struggle, our crops dwindle, our enemies encroach upon us from all directions. But if the Rohirrim are anything, we are hardy and steadfast. We will not let this be our end, and if it so is to be, then it will be an end worthy of remembrance and song! An end that our children will tell their children, for it will live on in history!
Bid by Third Marshal of the Mark and our Lord, Éomer, we are those riders who would defend the East-mark from the enemies that would destroy us. We ride now from Aldburg and across the plains of the Eastfold and the Folde, where we shall meet our enemies head-on! Arise, and ride! Ride now to war!
The Misty Mountains
The winds of the northern cold have come upon Eriador, as the seasons change and the first snows fall from the clouds above the Misty Mountains. A host of Angmarim and Orcs from the northern mountains marched upon the Last Bridge and the riders of the éored of Aldburg stood vailiantly with their brethren of Gondor's Seventh Legion and the Dunédain of Radestel Company. Although the mighty mearas of the Rohirrim could outrun the host of Angmar, their numbers overcame the meager resistance, driving them from their camp in Ost Guruth.
Crossing the cold waters of the Bruinen fords, the Rohirrim took refuge within Imladris and the Last Homely House of Lord Elrond. With suspicious eyes and heavy hearts, the brave Riders of Rohan rested in the sanctuary of their gracious and mysterious host, but it would not last long. After a fierce battle at the Fords of Bruinen and news of ill happenings in the Riddermark, the Rohirrim are more determined than ever to return home. Moving into the Misty Mountains, the horse-lords brave the harsh cold as they seek to take the High Pass and begin their ride southward...
Éored of the East-mark, or Eored of the Eastmark in-game, is a Heavy Roleplay kinship on the Landroval server of The Lord of the Rings Online. We are a Race of Man only kinship, specifically those who play a Rohirrim or one who might wish to charge forth with the Men of the Mark. We are focused on providing a stable roleplaying environment that stays true to the lore provided by J.R.R. Tolkien, through character and kin development, progressive plot lines and story arcs, and quality storytelling.
Our story is centered on the kin being an extension of the Éored of Éomer, also known as the Muster of Aldburg. Commanded by Aethelwigend ("Captain") Guthmyr, it is tasked with patrolling the borders and plains of Eastern Rohan and eradicating the enemy wherever it may be. In addition to being a militia kin, we are also a kin based on the culture of Rohan. Many events will be focused on culture, and we will draw from Tolkien's own sources for the Rohirrim, as well as Turbine's own lore, to create an accurate depiction of Rohirrim culture.
